| AdminHistory | Hugh Hale Bellot was born in January 1890 and attended Bedales School and Lincoln College Oxford. From 1915 to 1918 he was a temporary master at Battersea Polytechnic Secondary School and Bedales School and also a temporary clerk for H.M. Customs and Excise. Bellot was a Lecturer in History at University College London from 1921 to 1926. He then went to the University of Manchester where he was Reader in Modern History from 1927 to 1930. He was Commonwealth Fund Professor of American History at the University of London from 1930 to 1955. In his lifetime Bellot was Professor Emeritus of American History in the University of London, Fellow of University College London and Honorary Fellow of Lincoln College Oxford. Bellot's publications include literature on the study of American History and on the history of University College London. He died in February 1969. |
